Furusato Jidai Festival (Hassaku Festival)
A highlight of autumn in Tsuru, a former castle town, the Hassaku Festival has been celebrated since the Edo period as the grand autumn festival of Oide Shrine. Originally a sacred Shinto ritual, it evolved to include traditional performing arts, leading to the "Furusato Jidai Matsuri," held on the first weekend of September. Key attractions include a daimyo procession with participants in Edo-period attire, a grand parade of four decorated festival floats, and lively traditional festival music.
