Firewalking Festival

Of their training with water and fire, this festival offers the public a chance to see and participate in the centuries-old firewalking ritual used as training for Mt. Takao's yamabushi ascetic Buddhist monks. The climax is when the monks walk across the burning coals while praying for fulfillment of divine wishes, and members of the public can also participate.
